Defibrillator Session at Pemberton 23rd January 2014

Once more the Mark Province of West Lancashire showed its pro-active approach to its Charity giving by again presenting more de-fibrillators to Masonic Halls, this time at Pemberton Masonic Hall, Wigan.

Kevin Garvey from Cardiac Science, Sara Harris our trainer, and Peter Connolly
A total of 21 locations will benefit from the donation of the de-fribrllators and already at least one location they have been put to life saving use.
Peter Connolly receives a warm welcome from Paul Ledson
Before a packed hall and with representatives from Wigan, Leigh, Eccles and Swinton and other areas, the use of the ‘defib’s’ as they known was ably demonstrated by Kevin Garvey from Cardiac Science, Sara Harris, our trainer and paramedic, assisted by Eddie Barlow, an East Lancashire Mason, who is also a paramedic.

The opportunity to try out the ‘defibs’ was given to several members of the audience including our own Provincial Grand Master, Peter Connolly who was welcomed to Pemberton by Paul Ledson, the Chairman of the Masonic Club Management Committee ably assisted by Gordon Turner, Bookings Secretary for the Hall, who also arranged a splendid buffet for the visitors.
Kevin Garvey takes away the mystery of using this brilliant life-saver
Although the training aspect in the use of these vital pieces of equipment is a serious matter,
the evening was full of good humour.
Bro Eddie Barlow from East Lancs helps out - he is also a paramedic
For further technical information on the use of these vital pieces of equipment I would refer you to the comprehensive reports by Bob Boal from the Cleveleys demonstration on the 9th January and by Giles Berkley at Chorley on the 22nd of January, 2014.

Visitors at the presentation
Two more demonstrations are planned; at Widnes Masonic Hall on Wednesday 29th January and hope Street Masonic Hall, Liverpool on the 30th. If you can make it please go along to either of these two sessions it will be well worth the visit.
After all we never know when we might be called upon to use one of these essential machines
